Re: Letter of Commendation
On Wednesday May 27, 2009 Mr. Wallace Bateman of 6515 St. Andrews Drive in McCracken County called to report that his home had been burglarized overnight while he and his wife were asleep upstairs. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s car, which was parked in the garage, and some golf clubs.
Det. Frommeyer was called to the scene to investigate the burglary. After collecting evidence at the scene with the assistance of Dep. David Knight, the deputies left the area with no suspects in mind.
Over the next few days, Det. Frommeyer took the initiative to check computer databases and he was able to find that someone had pawned the victim’s golf clubs at a Clarksville Tennessee pawnshop. He also learned that the license plate on the victim’s car had been recovered from a vehicle in Clarksville Tennessee. Someone(s) had removed the victim’s license plate and placed it on another car, stealing that plate as well.
Det. Frommeyer continued his investigation and obtained the identity of the man that had pawned the stolen golf clubs. Ironically, Clarksville Police subsequently recovered Mr. Bateman’s stolen car near the suspect’s residence in Clarksville Tennessee.
Three days later on May 30, 2009 Det. Frommeyer was able to identify a 2nd suspect or an accomplice. He obtained a confession from her as to her involvement in the burglary. Later in the day, Dep. Kevin Carter and other deputies located the person that had pawned the stolen golf clubs in Tennessee. Det. Frommeyer was able to obtain a full confession from him as well as to his involvement in burglarizing the Bateman home.
Det. Frommeyer conducted himself and this investigation just as he should have, having the initiative to follow-up on all leads and information. To identify and arrest two persons responsible for burglarizing a home while the residents were asleep in the home is an accomplishment worth recognizing. Had Det. Frommeyer not been diligent in following up on this case, these suspects would not have been apprehended.
Det. Frommeyer is a very knowledgeable detective and does an excellent job for the department and citizens of this county.
As sheriff, I commend Det. Frommeyer for the professional job he did on this case.
