Eastbound
lanes on the I-24 bridge between Metropolis and Paducah were closed for about
six hours as crews cleaned up a soapy spill after a wreck on the bridge at 2:55
p.m. Saturday. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department said a semi truck
driven by Thomas J. Hall, 37, of Arnold, Mo., came upon a stopped motorcycle on
the bridge, swerved to miss it and hit another truck, driven by James Leech, 49,
of Pontotoc, Miss., from behind. The truck spilled shampoo and soap products on
the bridge, necessitating unloading of the trailer and cleanup. Leech was
treated for minor injuries and released at Lourdes hospital.
