Re: Vehicle Pursuit On Blandville Rd. Leads To Multiple Charges

At Appx. 7:30 A.M. today while on routine patrol in the 12000 block of Blandville Rd. (US 62) close to the Ballard county line, Dep. Eric Augustus spotted a silver Ford Escort run the stop sign at McKendree Church and Blandville Rd. Dep. Augustus immediately got in behind the vehicle, and attempted to pull him over using his emergency equipment, but the suspect would not stop. After a very short chase down the road, through a yard, and a cornfield, the suspect abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. Dep. Augustus then continued the chase on foot, following him over a barbed wire fence and arrested the suspect without further incident in a field not far from the vehicles.

The suspect had a minor cut from the barbed wire fence, but refused treatment.

Deputy Augustus also had minor injuries from the barbed wire, and was treated and released from Western Baptist Hospital

Suspect:

Nathan W. McGee white male, 23 years of age of Kevil, KY

Charge(s):

Disregarding A Stop Sign

Suspended Kentucky Drivers License (DUI)

No Insurance

Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)

Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot-Injury to Officer)

The suspect was taken to McCracken Regional Jail and was awaiting pre-trial for bond at the time of this release.

"Dep. Augustus was on extra patrol in that area due to several complaints from residents for this very same type of incident. We have always tried to respond to complaints of speeders and reckless drivers by utilizing special patrols when Deputies weren't on calls for service, but sometimes that is hard to do considering the volume of calls we receive are increasing yearly. It is a good thing for all the citizens of the county when targeted enforcement works like it did today."
