Re: Suspect Info Needed

On 07/10/07at approximately 02:07 AM McCracken County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a residence on IC Avenue, located in the Reidland, KY. area of McCracken County. The call was in reference to a burglary and attempted robbery and shots had been fired. The victim told Deputy Darrin Frommeyer he was asleep and woke up and heard someone at his front door. He told the person at the door to hold on. The victim then heard his storm door open, he knew then something was wrong. The victim was still groggy from being asleep. The victim opened the front door and there was a subject with a firearm in one hand and what appeared to be a can of pepper spray in the other hand. The suspect had the firearm pointed at the victims head and started forcing the victim backwards further into the residence. A scuffle then started and the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with the pepper spray. At that point the victim thought the suspect took off running. The victim retrieved a firearm at that time and proceeded to chase after the suspect. The victim saw the suspect get into a vehicle, the vehicle sped off towards Epperson Road and the victim fired two shots at the suspects vehicle. The suspect is a white male, 6'2, thin build. The suspect was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a dark type mask. The case has been assigned to Detective Tom Emery. At this time the Sheriffs Department will not release the victims name or address for the safety of the victim. I have consulted with Commonwealth Attorney Tim Kaltenbach and we came to the conclusion on the facts of this case there would be no charges taken against the victim for the discharge of the weapon, do to the extenuating circumstances of this case. Detectives have been able to collect some evidence, but are asking anyone with any information on this case to contact the McCracken County Sheriff Department at 444- 4719 or Crime Stoppers at 443-8355.
