Re: Mother facing drug charges and admits to using Marijuana with her juvenile son.

McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Detectives searched a home located at 275 Rosewood Drive (located in the Hendron Community) after complaints of illegal drug activity were received. Upon detectives arrival they found the home to be occupied by Barbara Cook and two of her children (the 9 and 6 year old). Detectives learned that Mrs. Cook had two additional children that were not present at the home that were ages 14 and 16 years of age.

A search of the residence revealed a small quantity of Marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication that was not in a proper container. Detectives also found the residence to be in unsatisfactory condition for the children to be living in. The Department Of Social Services were contacted and alternate arrangements were made for the children until the living conditions could be improved.

Barbara Cook was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department where she was interviewed by detectives. During the interview Cook admitted that she has had a Marijuana problem for several years. Most disturbingly Cook admitted to detectives that she has recently been smoking Marijuana with her 16 year old son.

Detectives later located and spoke with Cooks son. The 16 year old also informed detectives that he had been using Marijuana with his mother.

There will be an ongoing investigation pertaining to the illegal drug use between the mother and son. Additional charges are expected to be brought against Cook.

Cook was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
