Re: Stolen Vehicle Recovery

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A report of a stolen 2004 Chevrolet Malibu led to the arrest of two Paducah men on drug and receiving stolen property charges Monday night at about 7:30PM.

John Denton of Lone Oak reported to the sheriff's department Monday afternoon that he had loaned his vehicle to a family member and that it had not been returned. The family member was located in jail (arrested during a weekend drug raid on New Hope Road) and interviewed. During that interview and others at the jail, deputies learned that the vehicle had been traded to an unknown person for drugs over this past weekend.

At about 7:30PM, McCracken Sheriff's Deputy Steve Croft located the vehicle in the area of 13th and Park Avenue. It was occupied by two men. The driver of the stolen car was identified as being 19 year old Darion Carruthers of Paducah. The passenger (whom had Marijuana in his pocket) was identified as being 20 year old Christopher L. Jones also of Paducah. During an interview with Carruthers, Dep. learned that he had borrowed the car from a man that Carruthers stated that he did not know.

Carruthers was charged with Recieving Stolen Property (Vehicle), and Jones with Possession of Marijuana. Carruthers was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant out of McCracken County.

Both men were lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail and the vehicle returned to its owner.
