Re: McCracken County Jail Inmate And Accomplice Charged In Undercover Drug Operation
Approximately 2 weeks ago McCracken County Jail Officials became aware of Brian D. Jackson, an inmate, attempting to obtain illegal drugs (Marijuana) into the jail with the assistance of his girlfriend Monica J. Sanders.
Jackson who confessed to soliciting numerous deputy jailers in assisting him in obtaining illegal contraband finally succeeded in getting a deputy jailer to agree in helping him. Jackson was unaware that this deputy jailer was working with law enforcement while setting the deals up.
The first operation took place on January 1st, 2008 at approximately 1:00 a.m. On this occasion officials with the McCracken County Jail and McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Detectives arranged through the deputy jailer and Jackson to have a quantity of Marijuana and tobacco dropped off in front of the jail. Sanders complied with Jackson's request and made the drop.
The second operation took place on January 4, 2008 at approximately 03:15 a.m. On this occasion detectives observed Sanders pull up to a prearranged drop location in front of the McCracken County Regional Jail and drop off a paper sack that contained Marijuana, rolling papers, a lighter and cigarette tobacco.
After the second drop was made detectives conducted a traffic stop on Sanders in the area of South 6th and Broad Street at 03:17 a.m. Sanders was arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed additional cigarette tobacco inside a plastic sack and rolling papers.
Sanders was transported to the McCracken County Sheriff Department where an interview ensued. During the interview Sanders confessed to making the two drops at the jail for the purposes of getting her boyfriend Marijuana and cigarettes.
Jackson was brought over from the jail and informed that he had been confiding in a deputy jailer that was working with law enforcement in efforts to prevent illegal contraband from entering the jail. Jackson also confessed to setting the deals up through his girlfriend adding he was going to sell the Marijuana and tobacco to purchase phone cards.
" Due to recent charges that had been brought against two deputy jailers after they were arrested and confessed to assisting inmates in obtaining illegal contraband pro active measures were taken to prevent this type of conduct from occurring. This type of conduct will not be tolerated. At this time our staff has been informed on how to take preventative measures to ensure that this type of activity does not continue. Deputy Jailers are constantly monitoring for this type of activity both inside and outside the facility". Jailer Bill Adams
" This operation was very successful and could not have been carried out effectively without the communication and assistance of the McCracken County Jail. The investigation revealed additional individuals outside the jail that were involved in promoting this contraband. These individuals have been identified and ongoing investigations will ensue to ensure everyone involved is charged accordingly." Det. Sgt. Matt Carter
