Re: Arrested Suspects in Residential Burglary

On 12/27/07, Paul Dunbar reported that sometime between 12/24/07 and 12/27/07, subjects unlawfully entered his residence at Southwood Mobile Home Park, 749 Bleich road, and stole four firearms.

Upon further investigation by detectives, it was discovered that Phillip Thomason and Kyle Speer Jr. were possibly involved in the burglary.

On 01/05/08, as detectives conducted surveillance on Thomason and Speer, they made a traffic stop on their vehicle. Upon further investigation, a loaded stolen handgun from the burglary was discovered in Thomason's possession along with a quantity of suspected marijuana. Thomason was wearing a concealed holster which he kept the firearm.

After a search was conducted of the suspect's residences, three other firearms taken in the burglary were recovered. The firearms included a 12 gauge shotgun and two handguns.

Further investigation proved that Thomason and Speer unlawfully entered Dunbar's residence and stole the firearms.

Both Thomason and Speer were charged with the following:

Thomason, Phillip M, w/m, 18, of Bleich rd. Paducah, Ky.

1) Burglary 1st degree

2) Possession of marijuana (firearm enhancement)

3) Possession of drug paraphernalia (firearm enhancement)

4) Possession of alcoholic beverage by a minor

Speer Jr., Kyle D. w/m, 18, of Olympia St. Paducah, Ky.

1) Burglary 1st degree
