Re: Two separate drug investigation lead to Cocaine trafficking charges and one police pursuit
The McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division began an investigation Saturday February 23, 2008 after a McCracken County Sheriff's detective acted in an undercover capacity and purchased a quantity of Flexeril pills (muscle relaxing pill) from a female who was identified as being Brenda G. Taylor of Cairo Road. Sheriff's detectives maintained contact with Taylor over the weekend and learned that her elderly bedridden mother was due to obtain a prescription for Delodid (pain pill) on Monday February 25. Detectives made arrangements with Taylor to purchase a quantity of Delodid pills from Taylor on Tuesday February 26 and successfully made the purchase at 14:22 on the 26th.
After the purchase of the Delodid pills were made Taylor stated that she could obtain Cocaine if we wanted some. On February 26, 2008 at 18:02 Taylor was contacted by the detective that was working in an undercover capacity and ordered $100.00 worth of Crack Cocaine from Taylor. Taylor traveled to the area of 9th and Boyd Street and obtained a quantity of Cocaine and returned to the detective and made the transaction in the driveway of her residence.
Detectives had obtained a search warrant for Taylor's residence prior to the Cocaine purchase. Immediately following the completion of the Cocaine transaction additional detectives merged upon Taylor and her juvenile son whom had accompanied her when she obtained the Cocaine. Both Taylor and her son was detained and the search warrant was executed at the residence located at 4137 Cairo Road. Detectives located a Crack residue pipe in the bathroom and a quantity of Cocaine outside on the ground where Taylor was taken into custody. Taylor admitted to detective that she had thrown the Cocaine in attempts to get rid of it prior to us having an opportunity to locate it on her person.
Taylor was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Sheriff Department where an interview ensued prior to lodging her in the McCracken County Regional Jail. During the interview Taylor admitted that she had stolen some of her mother prescription medication in efforts to make money for various reasons. Taylor also admitted to selling pills on two separate occasions and Cocaine on one occasion to whom she later found out to be an undercover officer.

A separate investigation by the McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division revealed that Ancinio D. Frair was trafficking in Crack Cocaine. Another undercover operation resulted in a phone call being placed to Frair and a request for him to deliver a quantity of Crack Cocaine to a designated parking lot located on Cairo Road. The investigation revealed that Frair drove a 2008 Gray in color Chevy Impala that had been rented through Enterprise Rental Car. Frair agreed to the delivery of the Cocaine and arrived on the parking lot at 23:13. Two undercover McCracken County Sheriff's vehicles that were both equipped with multiple blue strobe style lights confronted Frair and his vehicle and attempted to block him from exiting the parking lot. Frair accelerated around the officers, went though a yard, and continued outbound on Cairo Road towards the interstate. Frair lead detectives onto the interstate and proceed West into Illinois.
Just prior to starting across the bridge Frair threw out a quantity of Cocaine. The pursuit continued into Illinois until Frair eventually stopped at the Brookport, Metropolis Exit.
"Often times a drug trafficking suspect will flee from law enforcement until they have disposed of the drugs they're possessing. It would defiantly appear this was the situation in this particular case. The pursuit was closely monitored and little to no traffic was encountered while pursuing this vehicle" Det Sgt. Matt Carter
Upon approaching Frair, he was removed from his vehicle where a struggle ensued for a short period of time. Frair was wearing a large coat which made it impossible for officers to determine if he was armed or not. Frair during the struggle refused to comply with officers orders. Frair was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
A search of Frair's vehicle that he was driving revealed a plastic bag with missing corners on both side of the bag. This type of finding is consistent with that of someone that is involved in illegal drug trafficking. An undisclosed amount of US Currency was recovered off of Frair's person.
Illinois authorities took Frair into custody while detective obtained warrants out of McCracken County for various charges. Warrants were faxed to Illinois where Frair was waiting to be extradited back to Kentucky.
McCracken County Deputy Sheriff Cory Golightly retraced the route that Frair had taken during the pursuit. While searching the side of the road just prior to crossing the I-24 Bridge Deputy Golightly located a quantity of Crack Cocaine that had an estimated street value of $1000.00 on the side of the interstate that Frair had thrown from his vehicle during the chase.
