Paducah Woman arrested for stealing over $15,000 worth of jewelry from McCracken residence.
On March 29, 2008 at 11am, the McCracken County Sheriff's Department was called to the 5800 block of Blandville Road in Western McCracken County to investigate jewelry that had been stolen from a residence. The victim (name is not being released because of security/safety reasons) stated that several pieces of jewelry (Diamond rings, gold bracelets, diamond earrings, a gold watch, and a diamond pendant) was stolen from her jewelry box. The value of the theft was $15, 645.00. Victim stated she suspected her housekeeper, Tina Shaw, 30 from Paducah. Victim stated that Mrs. Shaw had cleaned her residence for the past 6 years and has not had any problems from her, however she would be the only logical suspect since entry was not forced to her secured residence.
During the course of the investigation, Det. Tom Emery was able to determine Mrs. Shaw and pawned the jewelry at a local pawn shop. Det. Emery and the victim went to the pawn shop and was able to identify her jewelry. Det. Emery continued to look for the suspect throughout the day until we received a call from the pawn shop stating Mrs. Shaw was back attempting to retrieve the stolen jewelry. Sheriff's Deputies were able to locate Mrs. Shaw and she was brought to the Sheriff's Department. She did confessed to stealing the watch in January of this year and the rest of the jewelry on March 28th.
Tina Shaw was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail and charge with Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $300 (2 counts). Each count is a Class D Felony and carries a maximum prison sentence of 5 years on each count.
