McCracken County Accidents
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to several accidents this date. The first occurred around 10:20 on Interstate24 about the 10 mile marker. 20 year old Amber Siress of Benton was traveling west in a 2006 Ford Mustang when she came up behind a 1989 Chevrolet van driven by 71 year Billie Metcalf of Calvert City. Mr. Metcalf was traveling at a much slower speed Ms. Siress swerved to avoid him and lost control of her vehicle making contact with Metcalf causing both vehicles to wreck. Traffic was slowed for approximately 45 mins. There was no injuries reported.
The second accident occurred around 13:00 at the end of Bobo road in West Paducah. Matthew Jackson 23 years old of West Paducah was driving a go-cart type vehicle when he lost control at the end of the road. He and a passenger 18 year old Rachel Duren also of West Paducah both received injuries and were transported by Mercy ambulance to the hospital. The sheriff's department was assisted by West McCracken Fire Department until Mercy could arrive.
The 3rd accident occurred around 13:48 on Interstate 24 on the I-24 bridge. 21 year old David Stratton of Metropolis Said he was east bound when his left front tire 1998 Chevrolet Malibu blew out causing him to lose control and hit the bridge wall. He complained of minor pain to his right arm but refused treatment and transported. Traffic was slowed for approximately 45 mins while emergency personnel waited for his vehicle to be removed by wrecker.
The last accident occurred around 14:30 near the intersection of Wesley Circle and US 60 West. 3 McCracken county JV's were transported to the hospital by ambulance after the vehicle they were traveling in lost control and left the roadway. Deputies and witnesses confirmed the driver was traveling at an execessive speed and swerved to avoid slower traffic overcorrected and lost control entering the median on its side before coming to rest on all four wheels. The vehicle was a 2008 2 door Nissan Altima it had to be removed from the scene by wrecker. One 16 year old was transported to Lourdes, a 16 and 15 year old was transported to WBH. All reported only minor injuries. The sheriff's department was assisted by the Concord Fire Department.
