
Foot Chase Leads To Cocaine Trafficking Charge
On Thursday June 5, 2008 at 17:44 p.m. the McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division and the Paducah Police Department DAVE Unit was conducting an undercover drug investigation in the area of North 12th Street and Salem Street. Detectives were investigating a black male by the name of Anthony Dickerson AKA "Red". Detectives through the investigation determined that Dickerson had made arrangements to sell a quantity of Cocaine and was on his way to meet the buyer in the 1500 block of North 11th Street. Detectives through surveillance observed Dickerson walking to the agreed meet location to deliver the Cocaine when he was approached by detectives. After detectives identified themselves Dickerson fled on foot. Detectives gave chase after Dickerson on foot and in vehicles. After approximately a two (2) block chase detectives cornered Dickerson in an alley behind his residence which was located at 1215 Salem Street. As detectives approached Dickerson he threw two (2) separate plastic bags into a fenced in area. One of the bags contained approximately 2.8 grams of Crack Cocaine and the other bag contained a small quantity of Marijuana. After a brief struggle Dickerson was subdued by detectives and taken into custody. Additional Marijuana was recovered off of Dickerson's person along with $340.00 in US Currency.
Dickerson was transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail. This investigation is ongoing and additional arrest/s are expected.
