Paducah Couple Charged With Drug Trafficking

The McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division and the Paducah Police Department D.A.V.E Unit executed a search warrant at 1736 North 10th Street on 06/29/08 at 06:03 A.M. after an investigation by sheriff's detectives revealed that large quantities of Marijuana were being sold from the home. Found inside the residence were four adults and five small children.

Brian and Latasha Thomas were the adult residents of 1736 North 10th Street, as well as the primary targets of this investigation.

A search of the residence ensued and detectives located large sums of US Currency concealed in various locations throughout the residence totaling in excess of $17,500.00. Detectives also located over three and one half (3 1/2) pounds of processed Marijuana concealed inside a vanity on the property and guarded by a partial pit-bull breed dog, scales, plastic baggies, a large knife with Marijuana residue (suspected to have been used to divide large Marijuana bricks for sell), large duffel bags, coolers containing Marijuana residue, (suspected to have housed large quantities of Marijuana), and other related items. Detectives also located small amounts of Marijuana in two different vehicles that were parked at the residence that belonged to Brian Thomas. The seized vehicles consisted of a 1997 GMC suburban and a 1989 Chevy Caprice that contained Marijuana. A photo located inside the residence revealed Brian Thomas posing for a camera with writing on the bottom of the photo stating that he had everything people wanted "money and weed".

Both Brian and Latasha Thomas claimed that they were unaware of the large amount of currency that was concealed in there bedroom.

" It is very unreasonable to believe that anyone would not have knowledge of a large amount of currency located inside there residence. Currency is only commonly denied when it is believed to possibly have an incriminating link to illegal activity". Det. Sgt. Matt Carter

Both Brian and Latasha were arrested and transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail. The Department of Social Services were notified and informed of the situation.
