Paducah Man Charged With Drug Trafficking

The McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division received information alleging a Paducah man of trafficking in Marijuana. Shortly after the complaint was received detectives via undercover operations purchased quantities of Marijuana from who was identified as being Demetrius Jones of Paducah. Jones, who sold Marijuana to undercover officers was under surveillance and was observed frequenting several different locations in the Paducah area. One of the locations Jones had sold Marijuana out of, was identified as being 428 Walter Jetton Blvd.

Detectives learned through the investigation that the residence was rented by Jones girlfriend, Andrea Collier, also of Paducah.

On 08/06/08 shortly after 14:00 (2:00 p.m.) detectives with both the McCracken County Sheriff's Department and the Paducah Police Department DAVE Unit observed Jones leave an apartment in the Elm Wood Court area and travel to the residence in question, 428 Walter Jetton Blvd.. Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department had obtained a search warrant for this residence and executed the warrant at 15:20 this same date. Upon entering the residence detectives noted a strong odor of burnt Marijuana inside the residence along with three (3) adults and two (2) juveniles. Below Jones feet detectives located over 37 grams of Marijuana in two separate bags along with numerous small plastic baggies, used for packaging for sale, and a set of finger scales.

Detectives determined through the investigation that the owner of the residence, Andrea Collier, was aware of Jones activities as it related to illegal drug trafficking and that she had been in the residence smoking Marijuana that Jones had provided with the children present prior to our arrival. Both Jones and Collier was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail. Jones admitted to detectives that he was a Marijuana trafficker and claimed ownership of the Marijuana and paraphernalia that was recovered from 428 Walter Jetton.
