The McCracken County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints at various times and locations throughout McCracken County from this date through the Labor day week-end. This is part of a statewide "blitz" to reduce the number of motor vehicle accidents across the state; especially accidents involving impaired drivers. The focus of the checkpoints will be the detection and apprehension of persons driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Law enforcement officers will also be looking for unsafe vehicles, uninsured vehicles and persons whose driving privileges have been suspended.
