Re: Fugitive Arrested
An area fugitive was caught this afternoon and arrested on numerous charges after a foot chase and struggle near the Southern Pride Truck Stop (Exit 16).
William J. Tabor age 40 was wanted in connection with a July 01, 2008 residential burglary that occurred at 4754 Oaks Road in McCracken County. He is suspected in stealing a television and several firearms. He was also wanted on other charges including Bail jumping and Failure to Appear in court on unrelated charges.
An undercover investigation led detectives to the Southern Pride Truck Stop near Exit 16 and I-24 at about 3:40PM Sunday where they believed Tabor would be transferring a quantity of Marijuana.
Once seeing Tabor and as officers pulled in to arrest him, he fled on foot running about 75 yards attempting to get into a wooded area. Sheriff's detective Jesse Riddle caught up to Tabor tackling him in a large rock bed near a roadway drainage area. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle with Sheriff's detectives and state police troopers that were there assisting.
Tabor was found to have a quantity of Marijuana on his person as well as other illegal items.
Det. Riddle along with Tabor were taken to Western Baptist Hospital. Det. Riddle received several stitches for a large cut on his leg. Tabor was also treated for minor injuries he received in the struggle.
Tabor was charged with: 1st Degree Burglary, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Fleeing or Evading, Trafficking in Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He was later taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
