Motorcyclist Injured and Charged with DUI after accident in McCracken County

27- year old Jeffrey J. Grzesek of Hopkinsville was charged with DUI and not having a motorcycle license after a crash Friday afternoon at about 1:10PM. The crash occurred when the motorcyclist was southbound on Gum Springs Road near April Drive. The driver ran off the roadway striking an earth embankment. The driver had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

The owner of the motorcycle was charged with No Insurance and allowing a non-licensed operator to operate the motorcycle. He was identified as being 36- year old John M. Carpiniello of McCracken County.

The Lone Oak Fire Department responded to the scene to administer first aid. Mercy Regional Ambulance transported the victim to Lourdes Hospital. Due to the injuries of Mr. Grzesek, he was not arrested only cited. He remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

The accident was investigated by Dep. Mark Vallelunga and Sgt. John Colemen.
