Suspects Charged in Connection with McCracken Thefts and Burglaries

On 09/27/08, three burglaries were reported in the West Paducah area. Doug Moss, of Moss road, reported his garage was entered and several power tools were taken. Troy Moss, of Woodville road, reported a cooler full of drinks and a 3/4 rick of wood was taken from behind his residence. Edward Leigh II, reported someone forced open a door and entered Leigh's Barbecue resaurant. Stealing two pork shoulders, approx. 60 bags of chips and a six pack of sodas.

On 10/01/08, an anonymous tip came into the sheriff's department regarding several area burglaries. Information was given implicating Matthew Moss and Jason Blair, in area burglaries. Information was also obtained advising that Moss had stolen items, including guns, in his vehicle.

A BOLO (Be on the lookout) was given to area law enforcement regarding Moss' white Ford Taurus.

Later in the evening, Sgt. J.T. Coleman spotted the wanted vehicle in Reidland and made a traffic stop on Maple Drive. Upon further investigation, one of the occupants, Jason Blair, was determined to be wanted on a bench warrant and taken into custody.

The owner of the vehicle, Matthew Moss, agreed to come to the sheriff's department for questioning and allowed officers to search his vehicle. Two other occupants, Matthew Fike and Adam Watkins, were also questioned at the sheriff's department.

Upon searching Moss' vehicle, officers discovered a 44. caliber pistol and a 22. caliber rifle in the trunk, which was later determined to be stolen in Marshall County.

Further investigation revealed that Moss, Blair, Fike and Watkins were involved in the above burglaries.

The investigation led officers to a residence on Hendron road, where a search warrant was executed. Upon searching the residence, four more rifles were discovered in the bedroom of Christopher Craven. The rifles were kept underneath Cravens mattress.

The four rifles were also determined to be taken in a theft in Marshall County.

Craven was arrested on receiving stolen firearms charges.
