Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Hwy 60 west and Cairo road sending both drivers to area hospitals. The sheriff dept. responded to a 2 vehicle accident today at approximately 11:08 am. A 1992 Honda Accord driven by 32 year old Melaine Berryhill of Orlando FL was traveling westbound on US 60 and was attempting to make a left turn at the traffic light at the intersection of 60 and Cairo. Ms. Berryhills vehicle crossed in front an eastbound 2002 Pontiac Grand AM driven by 43 year old Sharon Howard of West Paducah, Ms. Howards vehicle continued forward and went down an earth embankment before coming to rest. Both drivers complained of back and neck pain. Ms. Berryhill was transported to Western Baptist. Ms. Howard was transported to Lourdes. Witnesses say Berryhill appeared to be using a cell phone just prior to the accident, she was also cited to court for no insurance. Traffic remained slow for approximately 45 mins. The sheriff dept was assisted by West McCracken Fire and Mercy Ambulance.
