Accident #2
The Sheriff's Department received a call to an injury accident in the 2200 Block of Lane Road at approximately 5:45 P.M. Prior to arrival, Deputies received an update that the driver was trapped in the vehicle and that the vehicle was on fire. Deputies were also given information that the driver was possibly intoxicated due to the fact that he was attempting to restart the burning and heavily damaged SUV.
When Deputies arrived, they found that the 1990 Chevrolet Suburban was on fire in the engine compartment and the driver was still inside. The fire was extinguished and the driver, 46 year old Randal D. Gordon was removed by Reidland / Farley Firefighters. He was treated and transported to Lourdes Hospital by Mercy Regional EMS. He received multiple injuries to his entire body.
Meadow's Wrecker Service responded to the scene with a flatbed wrecker to remove the SUV from its final rest in the front yard of 2201 Lane Road.
A check of the registration revealed that the SUV did not belong to Mr. Gordon. The registered owner was contacted, he informed Deputies that Mr. Gordon did not have permission to drive the Suburban. He statd that Mr. Gordon was only in possession of it for the purpose of repairing it. Mr. Gordon was cited for DUI and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
