Overnight Investigation Leads To Multiple Arrest And Seizures
The McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division over the last several days had been actively investigating a ten pound Marijuana transaction. The investigation started approximately two weeks ago when detectives learned that three local men were seeking to purchase Marijuana. Detectives began making contact with the men through the use of an undercover officer that posed to be a Marijuana trafficker. As the investigation progressed detectives determined that Juan E. Galvan of Clarksriver Road was arranging to set the transaction up on the behalf of Joe Crenshaw, of Mayfield, and Brian Neblett, of Ledbetter. The investigation revealed that Crenshaw and Neblett were going in halves on the ten pounds.
On 12/04/08 at approximately 18:24 Brian Neblett and Juan E. Galvan arrived on the parking lot of 6345 Kentucky Dam Road in Neblett's 2001 Chevy Truck to conduct the transaction. Galvan, whom did the hand to hand transaction with the undercover officer, exchanged $6000.00 cash for approximately ten pounds of Marijuana and placed the Marijuana in the back seat of Neblett's truck. Neblett and Galvan then began to drive off when they were confronted by several undercover vehicles from the McCracken County Sheriff Department as well as the Paducah Police Department DAVE Unit and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department. Minor contact was made between one of the takedown vehicles and Neblett's pickup to prevent his escape off the parking lot. Neblett and Galvan were arrested and transported to the McCracken County Sheriff Department without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed the Marijuana that had been sold during the reversal along with a SKS type assault rifle and two fully loaded magazines that held a total of 100 rounds of 7.62 ammunition. Detectives also seized Neblett's 2001 Chevrolet pickup.
At the conclusion of the first part of the investigation detectives began working towards the apprehension of Joe Crenshaw. After several phone conversations, Crenshaw agreed to meet undercover detectives on the parking lot located at 2730 John L. Puryear Drive. On 12/04/08 at approximately 21:15 McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Detectives and Marshall County Drug Detectives made the controlled approximate five (5) pound (Crenshaws part) delivery to Crenshaw. Immediately upon Crenshaw receiving his half of the Marijuana he was surrounded and arrested by detectives.
