12 year-old Heath Middle School student charged for making threats of bringing a gun to school.

The McCracken County Sheriff Department received a complaint on Wednesday 12/10/2008 of a 12 year old Heath Middle School student that had made threats of bringing a firearm to school and shoot students at an up and coming school function.  School officials were contacted immediately by me and learned the threat was valid in nature.  McCracken County School Resource Officer James Ford had already began the investigation when we were called.  SRO Ford and I worked together to resolve this case that ultimately led to it's expeditious resolution.

The 12 year old student was taken into custody at his residence on 12/11/2008 near 5pm without incident and charged with Terroristic Threatening 2nd degree which is a Class D felony.

"We, along with Heath Middle School, had received numerous calls from parents concerned with the safety of their children.  I would like to thank those parents and concerned citizens that phoned us and alerted our agency to this potential deadly situation. This case was top priority and was worked consistently until the juvenile was taken into custody."

Sincerely,
