 Kevil Woman Arrested On Three Counts Of Sexual Abuse First Degree

  On 12/21/08 the McCracken County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to 5015 Bethel Church Road in reference to a disturbance.

Upon deputies arrival they were informed that Jeannie M. Vannerson had been discovered in a locked bedroom with a sixteen (16) year old juvenile at approximately 04:30 a.m. The individual reported that he heard and observed what appeared to be sexual conduct occurring in the bedroom.

The sixteen (16) year old juvenile and Vannerson were transported to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department where interviews ensued. This detective determined based on the interviews with both individuals that there had been sexual encounters between them on a total of three occasions. It was determined that this conduct began approximately one month ago. Both admitted that sexual activity was occurring just prior to them being discovered this a.m. in the bedroom.

The investigation showed a consistent pattern of the 16 year old living at the address in question on and off over the past approximate ten (10) years. 

 Sexual Abuse 1st Degree KRS 510.110(d); subsection (d) of this statute reads as follows: Being a person in a position of authority or position of public trust, as defined in KRS 532.045, or he or she regardless of age, subjects a minor who is less than 18 years old, with whom he or she comes into contact as a result of that position, to sexual contact or engages in masturbation, etc.............(this statute was recently created to cover persons that have authority over another or that is in a position of public trust and the victim being under 18 years of age.

The investigation determined that Vannerson was believed to be in a position of trust as it related to the minor. Reference was made during the interviews that Vannerson was viewed and viewed herself as a mother figure for the minor.

After detectives consulted with the McCracken County Commonwealth Attorney's Office as to the facts of this case charges were filed, subsequently leading to the arrest of Vannerson.
