The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating a reported missing person and her two children.

Amber Hughes was reported missing by her family on 12-23-2008. She was last seen by family members on 12-20-2008 at 4:00 p.m. She is described as a white female, 28 yrs. 0f age, DOB 11-03-1980, 5 ft. 5 inches tall, 180 lbs., blonde hair that is shoulder length. Last seen wearing a white top and jeans. She is driving a mid 80s conversion van (possibly a Chevrolet) state of  registration may be Missouri and the registration number is unknown. It is blue and white with a peace sign on one door and a heart on the other.  At last contact with her family she stated she was taking two unknown white males (hitchhikers) to Princeton Kentucky. This concerned family members who state it was not like her to have strangers in the van with her kids. Princeton Police and area law enforcement agencies were contacted , but they were unable to locate the van. She has traveled to Nashville Tennessee before and has been known to spend time at various homeless shelters.

Her two children are with her. Christian Hughes is a five year old white male and Sage Strawser is a six weeks old white male. See attached photographs.

The Sheriff's Department is wanting to check the welfare of Amber and the children. There are no criminal charges pending and no allegations of abuse or neglect. The Cabinet for Family Services was contacted by  Sheriff's Department investigators. If located, Hughes will be asked to contact her family who has requested the Sheriff's Department contact the media. (family has indicated they will not speak to the media)
