Woman Arrested on Forgery and Theft Related Charges
On this date, Rachel L. Cavanaugh was arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges.
On or about 02/19/09, Ms. Cavanaugh stole two personal checks from a relative in McCracken County and used the checking account number to pay two utility bills electronically by telephone. During the course of the investigation, it was also determined that Ms. Cavanaugh used the stolen checks at two businesses in Mayfield, Ky.
On 02/25/09, Ms. Cavanaugh was caught on surveillance video writing a check at Wal-Mart in Mayfield, in the amount of $1330.89. It was determined that Ms. Cavanaugh returned some of the merchandise for cash. On the same date, Ms. Cavanaugh wrote a check to a local restaurant in Mayfield, in the amount of $385.
Ms. Cavanaugh was lodged in the McCracken Regional Jail on warrants from McCracken County Sheriff's Dept. and Mayfield Police Department.
Det. Sgt. Bryn Morrison of the Mayfield Police Department is currently investigating the charges in Mayfield.

Charges: Theft by unlawful taking U/300 (McCracken County)
Theft by deception U/300 (McCracken County)
Criminal possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree (Mayfield)
Theft by deception O/300 (Mayfield)
