Single vehicle collision with injuries:

At approximately 1716 hours this date a box truck pulling a carnival refreshment trailer driven by 30 year old Roy Cooney of Jonesboro, Illinois was East bound on Interstate 24. The driver of the box truck with trailer said he began running out of gas, which caused the vehicle to slow down as he was crossing the Ohio River Bridge. A passenger car driven by 23 year old Tabitha Walter was also East bound crossing the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge. The driver of the passenger car said she did not see the box truck whit trailer and she drove upon the truck trailer very rapidly. The driver of the passenger car steered to the left and avoid colliding with the truck and trailer, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle on the wet roadway. The passenger car began to ricochet between the guardrail and the concrete center divider of the bridge and finally stopped by colliding with the center concrete divider. The driver of the passenger car was transported to Lourdes Redi Care facility by her relatives, where she was treated for her injuries. Officers from the Metropolis Illinois Police Department assisted with this collision. Additionally, members of Mercy Regional and Concord Fire Departments of McCracken County, Kentucky also assisted at the collision scene.
