Two Paducah Men Arrested On Drug Trafficking Charges

The McCracken County Sheriff Department received information alleging a Paducah Man to be trafficking in Marijuana. The individual was identified as being Avery E. Booker of Ohio Street. Sheriff's detectives conducted an investigation which consisted of an under cover agent arranging a 1 pound Marijuana purchase from Booker. A short time into the investigation detectives learned that Booker was going to be picking the Marijuana up from another individual, also from the Paducah area. Detectives made taped phone calls to Booker and arranged for the transaction to occur on a business parking lot in the area of Old Mayfield Road and the Schneidman Road intersection. Detectives conducted surveillance on Booker and observed him leave his residence on Ohio Street and travel over to the area of North 9th Street and Boyd where he picked up an unknown black male walking down the street. Booker then drove the unknown male to the arranged meeting location where the unknown male sold the under cover agent an alleged 1 pound sack of Marijuana. Following the transaction detectives moved in to effect the arrest. After approaching the vehicle detectives identified the unknown individual as Troy E. Jones Jr. A thousand dollars in pre-copied buy money was located in the floor board at Jones feet in plain view. A search of Jones person revealed additional individual packaged bags of Marijuana along with additional US currency. The vehicle, a 1996 Dodge Caravan driven by Booker was also seized as it was used in the commission of the Marijuana trafficking. The investigation revealed that Jones made the hand to hand transaction with the agent while Booker set the deal up and provided transportation for Jones.

Following the drug sting detectives searched Bookers residence located at 2316 Ohio Street. A search of the residence revealed drug paraphernalia and a set of scales. Both Booker and Jones were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
