HIT AND RUN COLLISION SENDS ONE TO THE HOSPITAL.
At 17:54 hours, McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to a hit and run injury collision at Oaks Road and East Hovekamp Road. Arriving on scene deputies found 34 year old Donald Smith of Paducah, lying on the pavement by his Motor Scooter that was hit by another vehicle that fled the scene. Witness's stated a red Ford Mustang attempted to come back to the scene but later fled. Smith was treated by Reidland Farley Firefighters and Mercy Regional Ambulance at the scene, before being transported by Mercy to Lourdes E.R. Sheriff's Deputies and Paducah Police Officers scanned the south side area in search for the run vehicle. Deputy Cory Golightly later located the run vehicle at Kountry Kastle at 3415 Clarks River Road. While Dep. Golightly was inspecting the vehicle, 63 year old Barbara Green of Paducah, returned to the vehicle and stated she was operating the vehicle during the collision. She stated that she panicked when the collision occurred and did not know what to do. Green was charged with the charges below:
Leaving the scene of a collision / or failure to render assistance or aid
Failure to produce insurance card
Failure to notify DOT of address change
Failure to register transfer of motor vehicle.
THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL OPEN PENDING FURTHER CHARGES AT THIS TIME.
