SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION ON I-24 LEAVES THE SCENE

On 6/6/2009 at 02:15 hours, McCracken County Sheriff's Dept., responded to a single vehicle collision on Interstate 24 at the 8 mile marker. McCracken Co. Deputies and Paducah Police Officers looked in the area for the vehicle and had no success in locating it. Witness's stated they saw the vehicle run off the road and thought it over turned. The vehicle made it back on the roadway and left the area before Law Enforcement arrived. Only thing Law Enforcement could locate at the scene were skid marks and the rear bumper to a read vehicle.

A second 911 call came into Central Dispatch stating that a small red passenger car with damage to the vehicle, driving on 2 rims, had just arrived at the Saxony Trailer Park on North Friendship Road. When Deputies arrived to the location where the 2002 Nissan Sentra was located, the operator and owner Andrew Albritten, stated that he was driving during the collision. Albritten stated her was head West bound when he lost control and ran off the roadway, Albritten stated that he just wanted to make it home and gave no other reason why he did not call for assistance. Albritten claimed to have minor injuries but later decided to be transported by Mercy Ambulance Service to Lourdes E.R. for a medical evaluation. Albritten did appear to be under the influence and was later cited to court. Albritten was not arrested because of the possible severity of his injuries.

Albritten was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs 1st offense

FURTHER CHARGES ARE PENDING FROM THIS INVESTIGATION.
