A major warrant roundup has been underway in McCracken County since Monday morning at about 6:00AM. This is the second such operation in McCracken County the last being conducted in June of 2008.

The McCracken County sheriff for the second year has partnered with the United States Marshals Service to conduct an extensive warrant sweep throughout the county.

The U.S. Marshals Service have a history of aiding local law enforcement officers in the apprehension of fugitives. "They have allot of resources available to them that assist in locating fugitives."

The sheriff's department serve arrest warrants year round but it sometime becomes difficult to stay caught up with the large numbers of new arrest warrants issued by area judges. "We certainly play an integral role in the criminal justice system. One of our many roles is to see that the arrest warrants are served in a timely manner. If they are not, then the criminal justice system fails."

Teams consisting of McCracken County Sheriff's detectives and deputies, McCracken County Deputy Jailers, Deputy U.S. Marshals and members of their fugitive task force spanned out across McCracken County attempted arrest warrants that had been issued by McCracken County Courts, as well as warrants sent here from other counties and states to be served. The warrants included a wide range of crimes including theft crimes, contempt of court and failure to appear, fugitives from other jurisdictions, etc. Paducah Police and Kentucky State Police arrest information on warrants held by MCSD is included during the three-day period.
