Man arrested after spitting on Sheriff's Patrol Car

A Paducah man was jailed after he deliberately spit on a McCracken County Sheriff's Patrol Car that was parked outside of Lourdes Emergency Room, while the Deputy was conducting official business inside. At approximatel 6:10 PM on June the 19th, Jeffery A. Houser, 37, drove a 1991 Ford F-150 into the emergency room parking lot and was passing this Deputy's vehicle when spit out his driver's side window. Houser was unaware that his actions were being observed by this Deputy from an E.R. window. An examination of the patrol unit revealed a large amount of spit running down the passenger's side front door. Houser made his way through the hospital parking lot and was eventually stopped in the front parking lot. A check of his license revealed that they had been suspended by the state of Kentucky. Houser could not provide proof of current insurance on the pickup truck and a wrecker was summoned to tow his vehicle.

Prior to the tow trucks arrival, a consensual search along with a K-9 search of his vehicle was conducted that turned up a small amount of marijuana in and under the driver's seat. Charges for illegal possession of the marijuana were added to the charges of harassment (spitting on the patrol car) ,operating on a suspended operator's license, failure to maintain insurance and failure to surrender a suspended operator's license to the state of Kentucky. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail where he remains on a $500.00 cash bond.
