Suspect Charged in Burglary of Business
On 06/23/09. at approximately 11:45 p.m., deputies responded to a burglary alarm at Roadside Tobacco and Deli. Upon deputies arrival, it was discovered that someone had smashed the front window of the business and stole over approximately $3000 in lottery tickets and several cartons of cigarettes.
On 06/24/09, officers from the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and the Kentucky State Police, arrested Christopher B. Roper, on unrelated charges. After the Roper arrest, officers, including detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, determined Roper to be in possession of the stolen lottery tickets and cartons of cigarettes, which were the same name brand as the cigarettes taken from the burglary to Roadside Tobacco and Deli.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that Roper was involved in the burglary to the business and was charged with burglary 3rd degree and theft by unlawful taking over $300.
Roper is currently lodged in the Calloway County Jail.
Suspect: Christopher B. Roper, 22, Kelley Lane, Paducah, Ky.
Charges: Burglary 3rd degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking O/300.
