Traffic Stop leads to charge for Marijuana Possession.
At approx. 0105 hrs, Shanna Ezell, 25 y.o.a., of Metropolis Il, was stopped after being observed traveling at a speed well in excess of the posted limit on Harrison street near 32nd Street in Paducah. When I approached the vehicle, Ms. Ezell and her passenger, Terrel Mays appeared nervous. Mr. Mays has a documented history involving drug activity. During the stop Ms. Ezell denied any illegal drugs or other contraband would be in her vehicle, but then refused my request to search her vehicle to onfirm this. I requested Deputy Steve Croft utilize his K-9 Derec, who provided indications on the drivers door and then more specifically on a pair of jeans in the vehicle which contained a small amount of marijuana. The vehicle was searched, the marijuana located, and Ms. Ezell was cited and released.
