Paducah Man Arrested On Drug Charges

Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff Department Drug Division have been investigating complaints of illegal drug trafficking occurring at 6565 Old Mayfield Road over the past several months. The complaints alleged the resident, Darrell L. Martin, was selling Marijuana out of the residence and delivering it to various places in McCracken County. On 07/28/09 at approximately 18:15 p.m. Detectives Jesse Riddle and Michael Wray were conducting surveillance on Martin's residence when they observed him leaving in his 2004 Ford Van. Detectives also knew based on the investigation that Martin was in possession of a quantity of Marijuana. A short time later Martin was stopped at the intersection of South 29th Street and Mississippi Street by Deputy Steve Croft. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately two (2) ounces of processed Marijuana concealed inside newspapers that were located in the floorboard of the vehicle between the front seats. Detectives then focused their attention on Martins residence. A search of the residence revealed an additional quantity of Marijuana (in excess of eight ounces) along with items of drug paraphernalia, scales capable of weighing up to five pounds, 16 guns (various caliber long guns and handguns) and thirty three thousand dollars in US currency ($33,000.00). Martin had an additional five hundred and fifty five dollars on his person at the time of his arrest totaling $33,555.00 seized. Detectives also seized a 2000 Harley Electric Glide motorcycle. The investigation showed that the motorcycle had been used to transport illegal drugs to sale.
