Armed Standoff between McCracken County Deputies and Man with a rifle in his home.
At approximately 0914 this morning McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 1100 Starr Lane, Lot C, after a 911 call was received. Tracy Stewart, 38, of Paducah, stated that Charles Frank Asbell had pointed a gun at her during an argument at this residence. Ms Stewart was found waiting approximately a block away from the residence. When Deputy David Knight arrived, Mr. Asbell was contacted by phone and asked to come outside without the gun. He refused and said, "You will have to come in and get me". Additional Deputies responded to secure the area around the Lot C residence and provide safety for the surrounding neighbors. Sgt JT Coleman, a trained crisis negotiator, arrived within minutes and established telephone communications with Mr. Asbell. After approximately 35 minutes of conversation, Mr. Asbell came out of the residence unarmed and was taken into custody without further incident. A search of his residence revealed a .22 caliber rifle, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Asbell was arrested and lodged at McCracken County Jail.
