Collision injures two

At 8:42 AM Deputies responded to a injury accident at the intersection of Old Mayfield road and Faber street. Upon our arrival we found that a Ford pick up truck driven by 53 year old Rex Stapleton from Paducah had struck a 2005 Chevy Impala in the left side as they attempted to turn left onto Faber St. from Old Mayfield road. When Stapleton came over a hill he realized that there was two cars stopped in the road. He hit the brakes and entered the oncoming lane to avoid rear-ending the cars. The Chevy Impala driven by 79 year old Raymond Mathis of Paducah was unaware of the traffic going on behind him. He continued his turn from Old Mayfield to Faber St. Thus into the path of Stapleton. Stapleton's vehicle struck Mathis in the side. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway.

Mathis as well as a passenger in his vehicle "33 year old Gregory Wiley of Paducah" went to Western Baptist Hospital to be evaluated for injury.

Thanks,

Deputy Dwayne Pickett
