On 09-24-2009 McCracken County Sheriff's Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Robert F. Bivens 37, of Beiderman Street in Paducah for 1st Degree Sodomy on a child under the age of 12 and placed him under arrest at 11:32 am after a month long investigation.

On 08-31-2009 the McCracken County Sheriff's Department received a complaint regarding a sexual assault that had occurred approximately three years ago in McCracken County. Detectives learned that the alleged victim was a 17 year male juvenile who was currently residing in a Youth Development Center in Louisville Kentucky. On 09-09-2009 detectives with the Sheriff's Department traveled to Louisville and conducted an interview with the victim at the. Detectives were able to identify Robert F. Bivens 37, of Beiderman Street in Paducah as a potential suspect. Detectives contacted the Cabinet For Health And Family Services Department For Community Based Services and obtained past reports from various counties in Kentucky where Bivens was alleged to have sexually assaulted five other male juveniles.

On 09-23-2009 McCracken County Sheriff Detectives located Robert Bivens at his Paducah residence. Bivens was later interviewed at the McCracken County Sheriff's Department. During the interview Bivens stated that he had a problem with prepubescent boys. Bivens acknowledged that he often thought about young boys. Bivens denied the most recent claim of sexual assault. Detectives interviewed Bivens regarding a past sexual assault that occurred sometime in late 1995 through 1996 where Bivens was alleged to have sodomized an eight year old boy in McCracken County. During the interview Bivens admitted that he had in fact sodomized the eight year old boy on what he believed were two occasions in McCracken County. Bivens also admitted that he had sexually abused another child in a surrounding county in 2007.

On 09-24-2009 detectives obtained an arrest warrant for first degree sodomy on a child less than 12 years old. On that same date detectives located and arrested Bivens at 2412 Beiderman Street in Paducah. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. A search of the residence revealed suspected child pornography on a computer located in Bivens bedroom along with a small amount of marijuana. Detectives seized two computers from the residence as part of the investigation.

Bivens was lodged in the McCracken County Jail. The investigation is continuing. Additionally charges are likely in the future.
