A DUI arrest leads to drug charges

McCracken County Deputy Tim Reed was dispatched to residence on Starr Lane for a disturbance. The suspect was gone but returned shortly after the deputy arrived on scene. A strong odor of alcohol was coming from the suspect. After the man was arrested for DUI, marijuana roaches, a pack of rolling papers , and 13 Xanax were found in his car. 51 year old Richard Atherton of Boaz was charged with DUI 1st offense, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree. Mr. Atherton was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
