Re: Paducah Man Arrested On 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of a Seven Year Old

On 10-06-2009 at approximately 22:27 hrs McCracken County Sheriff's Detectives arrested a Paducah man on two counts of 1st degree sexual abuse on a child less than 12 years of age.

Earlier on that same date at approximately 6:45 pm Deputy Greg Moyers of the McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to 100 Belmont Court in Paducah in reference to a complaint. Upon his arrival Deputy Moyers learned that David L. Deshields 29, of 100 Belmont Court had allegedly sexually assaulted a seven year old child. Moyers contacted detectives and the Cabinet for Families and Children who followed up with an investigation. Through their investigation detectives revealed that Deshields had sexually assaulted the seven year old child on two different occasions in McCracken County. One of these occasions occurred approximately five months ago, while the other occurred as recent as two weeks ago. Both acts occurred at Deshields residence located at 100 Belmont Court in Paducah. At approximately 22:27 hrs on that same date detectives and Sheriff Deputies located Deshields on the Wal-Mart parking located at 3220 Irvin Cobb Drive in Paducah. Deshields was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department were he was interviewed and subsequently confessed to sexually assaulting his seven year old step daughter on two different occasions. Deshields was lodged in McCracken County Jail.

Charges: Two Counts of 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of Child Under the age of 12

(Each count is a class "C" felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison)
