McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies and Mercy Regional Ambulance were dispatched to an accidental shooting at 4162 Benton Road Paducah, KY. Upon arrival it was determined that Paul Henry (45yoa) had been squirrel hunting in a wooded area adjacent to his home. Mr. Henry was hunting with a single shot 20 gauge shotgun. Mr. Henry told deputies that he had been seated and cocked the hammer of the shotgun in preparation for taking a shot. When Mr. Henry began to stand and removed his thumb from the hammer the shotgun accidentally discharged. The blast from the shotgun struck Mr. Henry in the left foot. Mr. Henry was near his home and was able to use his cell phone to summon help. Mr. Henry was transported to Western Baptist Hospital.
