During the past several days the McCracken County Sheriff's Department has responded to several burglary complaints involving area churches. The burglaries appear to be occurring during the early morning hours. Various items have been taken from the churches. The main concentration of burglaries appear to be in the far western end of the county as well as in the Reidland area. Sheriff's detectives area actively investigating these cases and urge anyone with any information to contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 444-4719 or Crimestoppers at 443-TELL. The Sheriff's Department would encourage area churches to make sure that all serial numbers to electronic items and musical instruments are on file. As always we encourage homeowners, business owners, and religious organizations to ensure that all security equipment and exterior lighting devices are operational.
