On this date an elderly female was the target of a scam that resulted in the burglary of her residence on Hinkleville Road in the west end of McCracken county. Two male subjects posing a carpet salesmen approached the homeowner around 4:30pm and asked to see her home and requested to show her some samples of vinyl flooring that they were selling. The woman allowed the men into their home and the two men then unrolled the vinyl flooring and obstructed the view of the homeowner with the flooring. A third party then apparently entered the residence and stole numerous items of jewelry and cash. The third party was not seen by the homeowner. Both suspects are white males. One suspect is approximately 6'2" tall and heavy set. This subject is approximately 55 years of age. The second suspect is smaller and may have a black mustache. The homeowner believes that the men were driving a white full size pickup truck. The homeowner did not immediately notice the items missing. The McCracken County Sheriff's Department requests that anyone who lives west of Barkley Regional Airport and has been given an estimate for flooring in their home or has had any type of flooring installed in their home this week to contact the Sheriff's Office General Investigation Division at (270) 444-4719. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the McCracken County Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers at 443 -TELL. You may be eligible for a cash reward.
