Subject:

Local business man arrested for Felony Destruction of a VIN.

Date:

November 24th, 2009

On November 24th at approximately 3:40pm, I was dispatched to a citizen assist/property dispute at 6100 Benton Road, Casper's Auto Repair Services.  On arrival I met with David Woehlke who advised me that the owner of Casper's Repair had his bikes for about 3 months and would not give them back.  Mr. Woehlke stated he delivered the bikes so that Casper could modify them into "chopper style" bikes.  Mr. Woehlke stated he just wanted to get his bikes back and Casper would not honor his request.  After further investigation, Woehlke advised me that the VIN was welded over on his 1984 Suzuki Motorcycle.  After observing the motorcycle I did see that the VIN was welded through.  Casper Chesnutt II, 37, of Paducah arrived at his shop and spoke to me.  Mr. Chesnutt stated verbally and in a written statement that he did in fact weld through the VIN.  Mr. Chesnutt was arrested and charged with Destruction of VIN Number - A class D Felony.
