Drug Investigation Leads to Vehicle Pursuit

McCracken County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested two Paducah residents on various charges after an investigation that led to a vehicle pursuit.
 
On January 10th, 2010 at approximately 1 pm McCracken County Sheriff's Detectives were contacted by McCracken County Corner Dan Sims. Sims informed detectives that he had received numerous texts messages on his cell phone from someone asking if he was interested in any Lortabs adding that they had 60 10 milligram doses of Lortab for seven dollars a piece.
 
Detectives worked with Sims and were able to correspond with the individuals via text message. Detectives negotiated a price for the Lortabs with the individuals for $420 and were told that they could have a 120 doses of valium along with the Lortabs for a total of $500. The individuals stated that they would be driving a white in color Dodge Intrepid with front end damage at would meet detectives at Hanna Plaza at 2:15 pm in Paducah. Detectives received an additional text message at approximately 2:30 pm stating that the individuals were arriving. Detectives then observed a white in color Dodge Intrepid with front end damage pulling onto the lot occupied by one male and one female. The vehicle circled the South end of the parking lot several times. Detectives attempted to stop and block the vehicle with blues and sirens activated. The male driver of the Intrepid drove through the yard around detectives and fled onto Alben Barkley Drive back to Lone Oak Road. The vehicle continued outbound on Lone Oak until reaching Berger Road were it turned. Detectives and Sheriff's Deputies pursued the vehicle out Old Mayfield were the vehicle made a left turn onto Clarkline Road. Deputies attempted a P.I.T. maneuver at the intersection of Old Mayfield and Clarkline when the driver attempted to turn where there was no additional traffic. The vehicle was knocked off the roadway momentarily but, continued on. Sgt. Kevin Lynn of the McCracken County Sheriff's Department deployed the stop sticks near the intersection of Clarkline and Husband's Roads flattening the front driver's side tire of the Intrepid. The vehicle slowed some what but, continued on. The driver continued North bound on John Puryear Drive back into Paducah. Once inside the city limits, Sheriff Deputies were assisted in the pursuit by the Paducah Police Department. Sgt. Steve Smith of the Paducah Police Department deployed an additional set of stop sticks on 3rdStreet near the intersection of Clark street slowing the Intrepid even further. The vehicle continued onto Park Avenue slowing to speeds between 30-40 mph where it approached the intersection of North 13th and Park Avenue. The driver of the Intrepid ran the red light at the intersection and struck a 2005 Toyota passenger car operated by Dorothy Reed 52, of HC Mathis Drive. Reed's vehicle was also occupied by passengers Brenda Williams 40, of HC Mathis Drive, Jerry Lee 26, of HC Mathis Drive and Mario Reed 4, also of HC Mathis Drive. 
 
Detectives identified the driver of the Dodge Intrepid as Thomas E. Robertson 21, of Evelyn Drive in Paducah. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Jennifer R. Massey 35, also of Evelyn Drive. A check of drivers' license records revealed that Robertson's license was suspended. Warrant checks revealed that both Robertson and Massey were wanted in McCracken County for failing to appear on previous offenses that they had commited in McCracken County. Massey was also wanted out out of Georgia on other offenses. A search of the vehicle revealed the 60 doses of Lortab that the couple had intended to sell and the cell phone that was used to arrange the transaction. Both Massey and Robertson were placed under arrest. Massey was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for apparent minor injuries. Brenda Williams, Jerry Lee, Mario Reed and Dorothy Reed were also transported to an area hospital where they are received treatment for apparent minor injury. 
 
Detectives conducted a interview with Thomas Robertson at the McCracken County Sheriff's Department where he stated that he fled because he didn't want to get caught. Robertson stated during the interview that he had a prior felony conviction for fleeing from the police and was currently on bond for a felony fleeing and evading case where he alleged fled from the Paducah Police Department in June of 2009. Robertson also has a pending charge of being a 2nd degree persistent felony offender. Robertson stated that he had ran from police on five or six different occasions  in a vehicle and got away. Robertson stated that earlier in the day he had stole several unfilled prescriptions from his father's apartment located on Broadway in Paducah. Robertson stated that his father is currently is currently hospitalized. Robertson stated that some how he and Massey got that individuals phone number wrong. 
 
Robertson was lodged in the McCracken County Jail
 
Massey is currently in the custody of deputies at Western Baptist Hospital

Charges:  Trafficking in a 2nd degree Controlled Substance-Lortab (A class "D" felony punishable by up to 1-5 years in prison), Obtaining a controlled substance by fraud(A class "D" felony punishable by up to 1-5 years in prison), Four counts of 1st degree Wanton Endangerment (A class "D" felony punishable by up to 1-5 years in prison on each count) 1st degree Fleeing or evading Police in a motor vehicle (A class "D" felony punishable by up to 1-5 years in prison on each count), Theft of a controlled substance under $300, Speeding over 26mph or more over the limit, disregarding a traffic control device , Operating on suspended or revoked license, Failure to signal and one count of failing to appear for court
 
Arrested: Jennifer R. Massey 35, of Evelyn Drive in Paducah
 
Charges:  Trafficking in a 2nd degree Controlled Substance-Lortab (A class "D" felony punishable by up to 1-5 years in prison) and two counts of failing to appear for court.
 
Massey also has a lengthy criminal history that currently includes a pending fraudulent use of a credit card under $10,000 out of McCracken County
