House Fire on Clinton Road

Date:

01-31-10

On 01-30-10 at approx 2231 hrs, McCracken County Sheriff Deputies, Lone Oak and Melber Fire Departments, and Mercy Regional Ambulance, were dispatched to a structure fire at 8600 Clinton Road. The residence was located in McCracken County but in the Melber area near the Graves County line.

Sheriff's Deputy Davant Ramage was the first responder to arrive on scene at approx. 2338 hrs and advised the house was already fully engulfed in fire.

The resident, Joe Cissell, advised that he had been asleep and when he awoke, the house was filled with smoke. He stated he had to crawl in order to get out of the residence and then called 911.

There was extensive damage to the residence, but there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire. The cause has not yet been determined.

There was a brief power outage to residents in the immediate area, but Jackson Purchase Electric was able to Isolate the burning structure and restore power.

The Kentucky State Highway Dept. also responded due to the below freezing temperatures and the water being used to combat the fire created an icing condition on the roadway.
