At
approx 0430 hrs this morning McCracken County Sheriff Deputies, Lone
Oak Fire Dept., and Mercy regional Ambulance were dispatched to an
overturned vehicle on North Friendship Road near Old North
Friendship Road and Seneca Lane.
37 year
old, Dorothea Knox, of Paducah was driving her White 2006 Chevrolet
Cobalt North on North Friendship Road. It appeared Ms. Knox lost
control of the vehicle while attempting to negotiate a left curve.
The vehicle entered into a skid, ran off the shoulder and struck an
earth embankment causing the vehicle to overturn. Ms. Knox was freed
from the vehicle by a passerby, treated by Lone Oak Fire Dept. and
Mercy Regional Ambulance, who then transported her to Lourdes
ER for treatment of possible injuries.
The
collision closed and / or restricted traffic to one lane of North
Friendship Road for almost an hour.
The
roadway had a deceptive thin layer of frost and there had been very
little traffic which created a slick condition especially
when coupled with normal driving speeds.
Motorists
should exercise caution during below freezing
temperatures, especially at night, as it can have an
adverse effect on tire grip or traction.
