At approximately 15:02 pm the McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to a 2 vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of US 45 Lone Oak Road at the Charleston Ave intersection.  The accident occurred when a 1991 Ford Taurus pulled off of Charleston Avenue and failed to yield the right of way striking the side of a southbound 2001 Chevy Suburban that was pulling a small trailer.  The driver of the Taurus, 17 year old Theodore Brockman of Paducah, said he looked both ways but did not see the Suburban before he pulled out.  The impact from the accident caused Brockmans airbags to deploy and also damaged the Suburban and trailer sending debris all over the southbound lanes. A passenger in Brockman's vehicle, 17 year old Marcus Cardwell, was treated for neck and chest pain and was transported by ambulance to Western Baptist hospital for treatment.  The driver of the Suburban 47 year old Jacqueline Englert also of Paducah said she did not see the other vehicle until it was too late to avoid the collision. Her and her husband 54 year old Robert Englert were not injured.  Traffic was slowed in the southbound lanes for approximately 45 mins while the scene was being cleaned up.  The direct cause of the accident is still being investigated but witnesses at the scene said the Taurus failed to stop at the stop sign.
