Four Arrested Following Restaurant Investigation

Date:

March 9, 2010

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Division arrested four individuals on drug related offenses following an investigation conducted at the Dairy Queen located at 1031 Joe Clinton in Paducah on March 9, 2010.

Over the past several days the McCracken County Sheriff's Department received numerous complaints alleging that employees of the Dairy Queen located at 1031 Joe Clifton in Paducah were using and or selling Marijuana on the business parking lot.

In order to investigate some of these alleged complaints, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department drug division conducted surveillance on the parking lot of the business for a period of time on March 9th 2010. At approximately 2:09 P.M, after only a few minutes of surveillance, detectives observed two employees of Dairy Queen in a pickup truck smoking marijuana out of a pipe.  They were still on the parking lot of Dairy Queen. Detectives identified the two individuals in the pickup truck as Christopher S. Young and Darren A Moore. A search of the truck revealed two plastic baggies of Marijuana, a marijuana smoking pipe and a dose of Lortab. Additionally detectives searched a vehicle on the parking lot belonging to Moore and seized another Marijuana smoking pipe from the vehicle.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned that other individuals would be delivering a quantity of Marijuana, Oxycontin and Valium later in the evening to the Dairy Queen. On the same date, at approximately 5:57 pm, detectives observed a 2003, gold in color, Kia passenger car driven by Troy Jones Jr. along with his passenger Rachele Freiberg, pull into the rear parking lot of Dairy Queen. Detectives attempted to block the vehicle in on the parking lot with blue lights and sirens activated, but the Kia struck a Sheriff's Departmental vehicle and fled east on Park Avenue. The vehicle stopped a short distance later on Park Avenue and both Jones and Freiberg were arrested. A search of Jones's person revealed Marijuana packaged for sale and a cell phone that was used to conduct drug sales. A search of Freiberg's person located marijuana concealed in her bra as well as four doses of Valium and one dose of Oxycontin in a pants pocket.

Detectives were familiar with Jones, having arrested him in May of 2009 in McCracken County for trafficking in excess of eight ounces of Marijuana. Jones is currently on felony probation in relation to that case.

Detectives later learned through their investigation that Freiberg had stolen the pills found on her person, approximately a month prior in McCracken County from a family member. All four individuals were lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
