Reckless DUI driver arrested after vehicle/foot chase Wednesday Afternoon

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:11PM, McCracken County Deputy Colleen Pennebaker while on patrol on Blandville Road near the West Kentucky Community and Technical College, observed a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier driving westbound on Blandville Road. The vehicle was driving reckless and almost hit Dep. Pennebakers patrol vehicle.

 Dep. Pennebaker pulled the vehicle over in the parking lot of the WKCTC. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot and ran into the school, leaving his naked adult female passenger in the vehicle. Dep. Pennebaker pursued the suspect into and through the school . He refused commands from the deputy to stop, continuing through the school (down a long hallway) and back out into the parking lot. He jumped back into his vehicle, driving over a concrete barrier and back out onto Blandville Road almost striking other vehicles. The suspect continued outbound at a very high rate of speed. Law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle at that time.

Minutes later, Concord Fire Chief Bob McGowan spotted the suspect vehicle on Olivet Church Road near Stanley Cemetery Road and relayed this information to law enforcement.

Sheriff's deputies arrived as the vehicle was pulling into a residence located at 3610 Stanley Cemetery Road. Sheriff's deputies placed the driver and female nude passenger under arrest. Paducah Police also responded to assist.

The driver was identified as 37 year old Willie E. Cranich. He was extremely intoxicated. The female passenger was also intoxicated and placed under arrest. She was identified as being 33 year old Andrea Milligan.

Arrested: Cranich, Willie E. 37 yoa of Paducah, Ky

Charges: DUI on drugs and alcohol, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree, Operating on a Suspended Drivers License, Resisting Arrest, Promoting Contraband, Prescription Drugs not in Proper Container, and other related charges. Once being transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail, he was found attempting to smuggle prescription drugs into the jail.

Charges: Alcohol Intoxication

**Update**

 The driver of the vehicle listed above was reported at around 7:30PM tonight as being an escapee from the Paducah Community Center (Half Way House). He was serving a 10+ year sentence for Two Counts of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Two Counts of 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, out of Hopkins and Union County in Kentucky.

 

He is currently an inmate of the Kentucky State Department of Corrections.
