McCracken County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a Paducah Man and charged him with Marijuana trafficking offenses while he is currently awaiting trial on a similar case in McCracken County.

In November of 2009 detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department arrested Edward "Kentrall" Copeland after an investigation led to a search warrant being executed at his residence located at 3121 Clark Street in Paducah. During that search detectives seized 11 ounces of marijuana, a loaded .45 caliber handgun and approximately $13,000 in cash believed to be proceeds of marijuana sales. Copeland and his co-defendant Stephanie Mathis bonded out on these charges and are currently awaiting a McCracken County Circuit Jury Trial that is scheduled for July of 2010.

In December of 2009 Copeland was convicted of possession of cocaine stemming from a Ballard County case. Copeland received a five year sentence and was probated to the Kentucky Department of Probation and Parole.

Approximately one month ago detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department began an investigation after it was alleged that Copeland was again selling marijuana. During the course of the investigation detectives utilized a confidential witness to purchase in excess of eight ounces of marijuana from Copeland. Detectives located Copeland on 06-03-2010 in a vehicle near the intersection of 28th and Broadway in Paducah at approximately 10:48 pm. Copeland was arrested. Additionally detectives executed a search warrant at Copeland's residence a short time later located at 3121 Clark Street in Paducah. During a search of residence, K-9 Pepo and Deputy Steve Croft located a quantity of marijuana hidden in a pair of pants. Copeland's 2005 Pontiac was seized by detectives due to fact that Copeland utilized the vehicle to transport illegal drugs for sale. Copeland was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

Additionally arrests are likely in the near future of this case.
